Learning Technologist


To support digital improvement projects which optimise the use of digital technologies to enhance internal and external customer experience. 

We are seeking a Learning Technologist to create online learning/training content and supporting materials, advise on technology solutions (benefits/use/adoption) and develop the company’s Moodle-based virtual learning environment (VLE) and associated content. 

Working as part of NCC Education’s Digital Improvement Department, the role would be highly suitable for someone wishing to build on prior experience of Learning Technologies or online content development, or alternatively we would be interested to hear from applicants coming from a teaching background where they have been making use of, and developing knowledge and experience with, online technologies.

Job purpose  

To create e-learning and online learning/training content and supporting materials, advise on technology solutions’ benefits/use/adoption and develop the Company’s virtual learning environment (VLE) and associated content.

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Translate digital improvement project requirements into digital solutions and product features, which execute the product vision and enrich internal and external user experiences 
  • Advise on configuration, testing, implementation and support for a set of digital solutions and associated content
  • Contribute to scoping and designing, and developing new e-learning courses through to delivery and evaluation 
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of a quality assurance approach ensuring that digital materials are fit for purpose within the regulatory environment and comply with established technical standards 
  • Update and amend existing learning/training content, focusing on creating video e-learning content, adapting training/learning materials from face-to-face to e-learning 
  • Develop interactive, engaging, and impactful digital learning and training solutions, and assist in upskilling key staff to promote and use the solutions 
  • Work independently, and with subject matter experts as required, to understand learning/learning technology requirements and determine solutions 
  • Work with colleagues and technical experts to design and create engaging e-learning tools, providing creative flair and imagination to ensure that the e-learning tools are innovative and informative

  • Excellent working knowledge of MS Excel, PowerPoint and Word [essential]
  • Ability to critically evaluate systems and processes to find efficient ways of operating [essential]   


  • Degree level or equivalent [essential] 

Knowledge and experience


•      Experience in designing and developing learning/training content [essential]

•      Experience liaising with stakeholders, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and

•      being able to consult/advise on content development [essential]

•      Previous experience in an education and training environment [desirable]

•      Understanding of HTML5 and JavaScript [desirable]

•      Understanding of the subjects covered by the programmes [desirable]  

•      Understanding of assessment theory and different methods of assessment [desirable]
