Business Development Manager (Cape Town)

The role

This is a B2B Sales role focused on promoting the full range of NCC Education’s qualifications from Digi programme (primary and secondary schools), to undergraduate diploma and degree qualifications, and postgraduate qualifications. The Business Development Manager shall develop new business independently in an assigned region but within a framework of an international team globally. The ideal candidate has a proven track record of selling in Education, or the confidence to close deals with potential accredited partner centres (schools, colleges, universities) and build strategic level relationships with regulators and governments.

The candidate

We are keen to hear from individuals who are passionate about education and have experience doing business in the region. We are seeking an independent thinker who constantly looks for solutions to meet market demand, works well under pressure in a rapidly changing educational landscape. You must have a highly focused and effective approach for leads generation and proven track record to manage a sale to closure, as well as the ability to negotiate contracts for new business sales founded on sound commercial judgement with minimal supervision.

Besides securing new customers and business, you will implement account strategies focused on growth and establish opportunities to cross-sell and up-sell NCC Education’s products and services into existing Accredited Partner Centres. You will regularly review Partner Growth Plans with Accredited Partner Centres, to ensure that NCC Education is providing the appropriate level of support. A good understanding of changing market needs is required to provide input for the development of the regional marketing and sales strategy.

You are required to maintain an accurate sales forecast and pipeline and meet challenging sales targets. You must be self-motivated, with excellent inter-personal and communication skills, be dynamic, organised and be able to sell on more than just price. The ability to cultivate strong internal and external relationships based on collaborative working is essential, as are strong communication and presentation skills. You must be fluent in spoken and written English and willing to travel on a regular basis.

Experience and knowledge

=       Significant strategic / complex sales experience, minimum 4 years in new business sales acquisition [essential]

=       Knowledge and experience of the regional markets assigned [essential]

=       Knowledge of the British education system [desirable]


=       Ability to develop relationships with key stakeholders and communicate in a confident and effective manner with senior decision makers and key influencers, both face-to-face and via the social media and cross-platform messaging tools in a multicultural and multinational environment [essential]

=       Able to articulate a sales proposition [essential]

=       Ability to record sales behaviour on a CRM system [essential]


=       A valid driver’s licence [desirable]

=       Additional language skills to suit the target market [desirable]
